Always captured by the melodies, Camela Widad was close to wearing out the vinyl from her hometown library. Growing up in a small town flush with the artists that inspired her, Widad set out to follow the thread of storytelling woven so deeply in her Wisconsin roots. A theatre degree later, miles along the US highways and byways, gritty theatre jobs and dipping her toes into cover bands, she found herself writing her own material, making a record and right back where she started - storytelling and those addictive melodies. A classic Americana Troubadour that holds the stories of us: everyday people living and loving in our perfectly, imperfect ways.
Seven albums later, many more miles logged, heartbreak and a little more wear and tear, she brings an honesty that captures audiences in a net of authenticity, that feels a little bit saintly and a little bit rock and roll. With vocals that climb, then dance through subtlety, delivered against a backdrop of organic and stripped back performances, her unique voice and Americana sound, pulls you into to something remembered. Widad has appeared on stage alongside Chuck Prophet, Della May, David Lindley and iconic band America at venues and events such as The Birchmere Music Hall, Club Passim, Live on The Folk Show on WXPN, The Tin Angel, the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival. Joined on stage with the talented Jenna Joanis.
Tickets $12 in advance and $15 at the door
